Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch places her hand over heart at the staff convocation 2026.

We celebrated our talented, hardworking staff at the 2026 All-Staff Convocation!

Yesterday morning, we celebrated our talented, hardworking staff at the 2026 All-Staff Convocation!

We invited ALL of our staff to cheer, clap, and stomp in celebration of the goals we have achieved and the goals we will achieve. We reminded ourselves that THE GOAL MATTERS, making sure every D6 student graduates both college AND career ready. The journey to THE GOAL starts the moment our students step through our doors in elementary school and continues until the day our students walk across the graduation stage.

Every single one of our staff members IS an educator, whether they drive a bus, clean facilities, cook meals, teach in the classroom, or greet families at the door. Each staff member plays an integral role in every student’s educational journey. Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch reiterated this point by sharing her own story.

Franklin Middle School staff cheer and wave pom-poms.

Dr. Pilch was the first woman in her family to graduate from high school and college, blazing a trail for her nieces to aspire higher education. But, her journey to higher education would not have been possible without educators who believed in her. After being told that she was not “college material”, two teachers and a secretary disagreed. These three individuals believed Dr. Pilch was college material. They took her to colleges, encouraged her to apply, and assisted her with scholarship and financial aid applications. This is why every single staff role matters in education.

We have so much to celebrate in District 6!
